At Superior Hospice, we know that sometimes the greatest gift is simply being there. Hospice volunteering is not just about tasks or timelines — it’s about connection. A quiet presence. A shared laugh. A hand to hold. As a hospice volunteer, you become a vital part of a care team that surrounds patients and their families with comfort, dignity, and support during one of life’s most meaningful journeys.
If you have a heart for service and a desire to bring light into tender moments, we would be honored to welcome you.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Superior Hospice. While nurses and physicians manage care plans and medications, volunteers bring something equally essential: time, presence, and compassion that cannot be measured.
Whether it’s sitting beside a patient in silence, reading a favorite book aloud, or giving a caregiver a much-needed break, your presence can bring calm in the midst of uncertainty. Volunteers help families feel seen. Help patients feel cared for. And help all of us remember what truly matters in the end — being there for one another.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities — from quiet companionship to creative expression. Each one is meaningful, flexible, and supported by our team.
Sit with patients, talk, read aloud, share stories, or simply be present. Sometimes, the gift of just “being there” makes the biggest difference.
Give family caregivers a chance to rest or recharge by spending time with their loved one. Even short visits can bring peace and relief.
Lend a hand with light household chores, run local errands, or help prepare a meal — small acts that ease big burdens.
For those who’ve served, nothing replaces the understanding of a fellow veteran. Offer companionship rooted in shared experience and honor.
Licensed stylists or barbers can help patients feel refreshed, cared for, and confident through basic grooming.
Certified therapy animals bring joy and comfort like nothing else. Share the calming presence of your service-trained pet with patients and families.
Note: A certified service animal is required for pet therapy volunteer roles.
If you play an instrument, sing, or enjoy guiding others through simple art or music activities, we’d love to have you share your talents.
Note: Musical ability and your own instrument are required for this volunteer role.
It fills my heart and soul being able to support people and their loved ones during end-of-life. It is an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience.
My patients are so happy to see me. They think I’m helping them — but really, they help me become a better person.
As a retired Hospice RN, it warms my heart to care for patients and families on a different level. I’ve been present at a death — it’s pretty holy stuff. Volunteer! You’ll learn so much about yourself.
It’s an honor to be of service to patients on hospice. Volunteering here has been the best decision I’ve made.
